How we build this list
Each month we download the state’s District 4 food inspection file, keep the “Food-Licensing Inspection” visits with an Orlando address, check each address against city limits with the U.S. Census Bureau’s geocoder and list those inside the city. A few addresses the geocoder could not match, including some in Lake Nona, are left out until we can confirm them. Inspection results for every Orlando-area restaurant are in our restaurant inspections guide.
Starting a business in the city
Every business inside city limits needs a business tax receipt and a certificate of use before it opens, the city says. Check that your location is in the city and zoned for your use with the city’s zoning check, then apply online. The city sends a billing summary within 10 business days of processing the application, then mails the receipt after payment. Full steps are on the city’s business tax receipt page. Our permits and zoning guide covers build-outs.
