Small Business Saturday
American Express created Small Business Saturday for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, which is Nov. 28 this year. In Orlando, the city’s Orlando Main Streets program supports neighborhood business districts, each run by its own nonprofit board. Its districts include:
- City District and Thornton Park, downtown
- College Park
- Curry Ford West
- Gateway Orlando
- Ivanhoe Village
- Milk District
- Mills 50
- SODO
- West Lakes
Several districts post their own holiday events; we will add them as they are announced. Our new businesses page tracks shops that have opened in the city this year.
Holiday markets
- Luminary Market, 5:30 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at Luminary Green Park in Creative Village (Nov. 4, Nov. 18, Dec. 2 and Dec. 16). The Downtown Development Board market has 10 to 15 local vendors, with an outdoor movie at 7 p.m., the city says.
- Merry Market at the Tree Lighting Celebration, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Lake Eola Park. More than 30 vendors, food trucks, “snowfall” and Santa, the city’s event page says.
- Jingle Eve, 4:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in Ivanhoe Village, with local artisans and retailer promotions along Orange Avenue and Virginia Drive, the city’s listing says.
- Orlando Farmers Market, Sundays at Lake Eola; see our farmers markets page.
Parking and traffic downtown
- Free street parking on Black Friday. The city charges for on-street parking Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but parking is free on Sundays and on city-observed holidays, its on-street parking page says. The day after Thanksgiving is on the city’s observed holidays list. Saturday, Nov. 28, is a normal paid day.
- Cashless only. The city finished moving downtown street parking to digital payment on Oct. 1, 2026. Pay with the ParkMobile app, by texting “park” to 77223 or by calling 877-727-5714.
- Garages. City garage rates and locations are on its parking rates page.
- Ride the LYMMO. The free downtown circulator’s Orange and Grapefruit lines run 8 a.m. to 8:25 p.m. on weekends and connect Lake Eola, Church Street and the library, the city says. The Lime Line does not run on weekends or holidays.
Road work that may slow the drive to the malls is on our road construction and closures page.
