Memorial Day 2027 is Monday, May 31. Orlando marks it with three annual ceremonies: the city’s at Greenwood Cemetery, the Orlando VA Medical Center’s and Orange County’s at the county courthouse. None has announced its 2027 date yet. Below are the 2026 dates, so you know what to expect; we will update each one when the organizer does.

City of Orlando, Greenwood Cemetery. Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan led the 2026 ceremony, with a keynote address, patriotic tributes and a moment of reflection, the city’s release said. The city calls it an annual ceremony.
Orlando VA Medical Center. The VA’s 2026 ceremony began at 10 a.m. at the outdoor amphitheater, with veteran outreach from 9 a.m. and VA programs and veteran service organizations sharing information. American Legion Post 286 from Pine Castle presented the colors. The VA asked guests to RSVP, provided golf cart shuttles from the parking garages and streamed the ceremony online.
Orange County Courthouse. Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and the county’s Veterans Advisory Council held the 2026 ceremony at 8 a.m. on the holiday in the courthouse’s Jury Room 180. It ended with a wreath-laying at the memorial outside the courthouse, shown above. The county streamed it on YouTube and Vimeo.

The city’s observed holidays page listed Memorial Day 2026 among the days City Hall is closed; the 2027 list was not posted when we checked.

- School: the OCPS 2026-27 calendar ends the school year on Wednesday, May 26, 2027, before the holiday weekend.
- Parking: the city does not charge for on-street parking on its observed holidays, its on-street parking page says.
Pools and the start of summer
The city’s five seasonal pools (Rosemont, John H. Jackson, Hankins Park, John Long and Engelwood) are closed from Labor Day through Memorial Day, the city’s pool directory says. Rosemont Pool’s page says it is closed until summer 2027. Five pools are open all year: College Park, Dover Shores, James R. Smith, Wadeview and Northwest. Free for veterans
Harry P. Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Ave., gives retired military and veterans free general admission on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day, and active-duty military are free every day, its admission page says.
